Cars have mirrors to give you a better view of what is around you without having to turn your head completely. There is one located inside your car which is known as your rear view mirror and allows you to see through your rear wind screen, but this isn’t essential and isn’t a legal requirement of a vehicle. This is because vehicles such as vans don’t have rear wind screens so the rear view mirror is pointless and excluded. The other mirrors on a vehicle are the door mirrors/ wing mirrors. There are located on the car door, right up against the a pillar and allow you to see what is beside you and what is behind you. It is a legal requirement for you to have door mirrors because without them maneuvers such as changing lanes would be a lot more dangerous. Unfortunately there are still blind spots around the car but there have been improvements to car door mirrors to reduce them. They are now a convex shape which means they are slightly curved in order to show a bigger view around the car.
Depending on your driving position the door mirror will have to be adjusted. This is done either electrically or manually. Electric door mirrors have either a switch on the a pillar or the door and allow you to select which mirror you want to adjust and how you want to adjust them. You then have manual door mirrors which just have a stalk to adjust them.
Door mirrors have now replaced the old wing mirror ,they come in black or grey plastic or colour coded to the same colour as the car or van . They can be electrically operated mirror or manually operated mirror . Some door mirrors are even electric folding for tight parking or narrow streets .
You can have your door mirror removed ,packaged and delivered to your door for as little as £7.50 . Usually the next day .
